Shannon’s artwork is inspired by the natural world.

Her art practice serves as both the interpretive process and product of her life and surroundings.

She is a visual storyteller; wherein figures, animals and natural elements become metaphors for the human experience. 

A Chicago-area native, Shannon Dunn attended Illinois State University where she studied Art and Education.  Once a K-12 art teacher, Shannon now focuses her energy full time on creating art. She is multi-disciplinary artist whose artwork is inspired by the natural world.  Shannon strives to cultivate meaningful connections with the Divine, other people and within herself by interpreting the four life elements: Air, Earth, Fire and Water. Her art practice serves as both the interpretive process and product of her life and surroundings. She considers herself a visual storyteller; wherein figures, animals and natural elements become metaphors for the human experience.  

Shannon’s work has been shown in various solo and group exhibitions at galleries, art fairs and public venues throughout Colorado and the North American Southwest. When Shannon is not creating in her studio at  https://www.thesluicecos.com/, you can find her at the climbing gym, on a trail, river or reservoir, skiing or cooking and baking for her family and friends. She currently resides in Colorado Springs, CO with her husband Charlie, children Bella and Mason and dogs, Atticus and Samson.
